In addition to remote focus and zoom with P-iris, MegaDome G3 has the widest range of megapixel resolutions from 1080P up to 10MP. MegaDome G3 has many features and options including IR, telephoto lens, and WDR models.
MegaDome G3 RS is in a league of its own featuring full remote setup with motorized pan, tilt, focus, and zoom functionality. Available resolutions are 1080p, 3MP, and 5MP, and WDR model options are also available.

MegaDome G3 builds on the previous generation of MegaDome cameras, offering all of the same great features and options as before. MegaDome G3 adds the benefit of SNAPstream, CorridorView™, P-iris, new features, installer-friendly housing design, and stronger performance and network support.
The MegaDome G3 series housing features magnetic strips around the base to make mounting a snap. The top of the camera’s base magnetically attaches to the pre-installed surface mount plate, while the bottom of the base magnetically snaps to the bubble. This temporary magnetic solution holds the components in place while applying the captive screws and freeing the installer's hands for a faster, easier installation.
SNAPstream™ (Smart Noise Adaptation and Processing) technology, reduces bandwidth without sacrificing image quality. This breakthrough technology adapts to changes in the scene on the fly, and only pushes through necessary information. MegaDome G3 does not require excessive bandwidth as a result, despite the outstanding HD video delivered.
MegaDome G3 cameras can be installed without locally adjusting the focus or zoom of the lens. Remote focus and zoom can be controlled through the camera webpage, or through industry leading video management system (VMS) platforms.
MegaDome G3 10MP models can run at either 10MP or 1080p thanks to its dual mode functionality. The latter mode benefits from the ability to run at a smooth 30 frames per second.
In addition to the standard wide angle lens, MegaDome G3 cameras have the option of telephoto lens models. This enables use with farther mounting distances from areas where high detail is required, such as a vehicle entrance from across a large retail store parking lot.
MegaDome G3 cameras have the option of a powerful IR illuminator with 24 850nm LEDs. When active in the dark, there is almost no visible glow from AV Costar IR LEDs. Wide angle and telephoto lens models have a 50ft (15m) and 120ft (36m) illumination range respectively.
For automatic image clarity, MegaDome G3 IP megapixel cameras feature a precision iris or “P-iris” lens to ensure the best possible depth of field and image clarity for precise performance from the sensor.
Like MegaDome® G3, MegaDome G3 RS has the benefit of SNAPstream technology and an installer-friendly housing design. MegaDome G3 RS adds “no-touch” remote setup, where the camera can be set up completely remotely with pan, tilt, focus, and zoom functionality. MegaDome G3 RS is available in 3- or 5-megapixel (MP) resolutions.
MegaDome G3 RS features a first-of-its-kind, industry game-changing ability to be set up completely remotely. Pan, tilt, focus, and zoom functionality of the 2.8–6mm** varifocal lens sensor can be accessed via the camera’s webpage controls. Once the camera is physically mounted, the rest of the setup process is “hands-free”, thanks to the versatility and simplicity of the remote setup controls.
For applications with strong backlighting or reflections from wet or shiny flooring, Enhanced Wide Dynamic Range technology is available on select 1080p and 3MP MegaDome G3 series cameras. AV Costar WDR cameras deliver a dynamic range of up to 100db at full resolution and maximum frame rates producing clear images in challenging lighting conditions by maximizing the amount of detail in both bright and dark areas of a scene.
As part of their superior True Day/Night operation, MegaDome G3 series cameras include low-light enhancing technology with a mechanical IR (infrared) cut filter. True Day/Night capability automatically switches from color to black and white operation to increase sensitivity and image clarity at night or in unlit spaces.
Binning technology, used in parallel with True Day/Night functionality, sums the light value of 4 pixels into 1 larger pixel yielding much better image quality in low light and reduced bandwidth. Binning is available on 3MP, 5MP, and 10MP models.
For fast-action applications like gaming, where high frame rates are mission critical, select MegaDome G3 1080p cameras with Casino Mode guarantee 30 frames per second to capture every detail on even the slightest of hands.
With CorridorView, cameras with this feature can rotate or flip the image in 90° increments. This feature is ideal for narrow hallways where pixels are often wasted capturing the surrounding walls.
MegaDome G3 series cameras feature non-integer scaling, and offer 22 lower resolution options from SQCIF to 720p in addition to full resolution of the camera. Non-integer scaling is useful for pulling a second lower resolution stream for client viewing or remote monitoring while the high-detail, full resolution video is archived on the server.
Onboard storage provides an easy back-up or stand-alone solution for storing data. The SDHC card slot on MegaDome G3 series cameras supports up to 32GB of storage capacity.
MegaDome G3 series cameras are designed for demanding environments. Subjected and certified to rigorous dust and water tests, the IP66 rating, and its extended low operating temperature range make it ideal for outdoor applications. The IK-10 rated, rugged cast-aluminum dome housing is perfect for deterring vandals since it can withstand the equivalent of 55 kg (120 lbs) of force.
MegaDome G3 series cameras are complete all-in-one PoE solutions, meaning that no external power is required to use the cameras. Everything including the sensor board, lens, LEDs, heater, and power supply are all included inside the MegaDome G3 series housing for a simplified installation.
